The Steam Town Brew Company secured the opportunity to renovate and refurbish a corner site property in Eastleigh in September 2016. The original building, an excellent example of the Victorian era, has been since extended and re-purposed many times, and was in a dire condition when David and Drew took on the lease. The vision was to create a craft beer brewery house with production and distribution to the rear of the property, and a bar and restaurant area engaging with the street edges of Bishopstoke Road and Dutton Lane.
The Victorian era and the railway history of Eastleigh were used as references to drive the theme of the interior, which include up-cycled train parts for the bar and seating areas. Due to the restraints on budget and speed of the refurbishment, the project relied on the local effort of crafts people and industrial suppliers to help create the end result. The bar and restaurant opened in November 2017 and the brewery section will start up in March 2018.
