Paul Cashin Architects Site Update - New Energy Yoga, Winchester, Hampshire
Paul Cashin Architects have been working to deliver the New Energy Yoga studios, a new contemporary specialist yoga venue on Parchment Street in Winchester, Hampshire. In co-operation with New Energy Fitness, the yoga studio aims to be Winchesters premier yoga venue with classes and consultations in a dedicated space near the centre of town.
The project involves the refurbishment of a conservation area building known as Fountain House, which was previously a post office sorting centre. The architectural concept for the new yoga studio will be to split the experience of arriving, preparing, and management of classes away from the serenity of the studio area. This will be achieved by creating two different environments on each floor, accessed via a darkened stair case that twists and turns throughout the existing building.
Last week two students from the University of Portsmouth visited the project as part of the RIBA Mentoring Scheme. The scheme is devised as a link between study and practice, as the RIBA state, “the purpose of the mentoring scheme is to give students an insight into practice and to enhance their learning experience.”
