Paul Cashin Architects Summer Trips and Visits, Romsey, Hampshire and Dorset
Summer Trip to Rochecourt & Mottisfont
We have been enjoying the summer period with some excursions to local galleries and foreign destinations. Most recently we visited the building work underway for the new contemporary Visitors Centre at Mottisfont House near Romsey, Hampshire. The new centre features weathered steel and large glazed openings, and opens later in 2016.

We also visited Rochecourt again, a fantastic private collection of landscape art and sculptures on the Hampshire/Dorset border. The collection is partly housed in a contemporary extension designed by Stephen Marshall architects, which creates a link between the historic house and a garden room with large glass walls and a floating aluminium roof. To the rear of the main property, the architect has designed a house for a resident artist. We particularly admire the detailing of this project, the use of timber doors as windows, and aluminium as gutter profiles and the surrounds to openings.
